I'm interested in forming a group of serious, non-fiction writers for Bergen County. We can meet up once a month and discuss outlines or read selections of drafts. Anybody who is currently working on a non-fiction article, essay or book should join. If we get enough members, then we can arrange various sub-genre groups -- academic writing, blogging, news, sports, feature writing. Don't write alone! Write with us.
This meetup is to support writers in all stages, styles and levels of development. All genres and styles of writing are welcome, be they non-fiction, fiction, poetry, scriptwriting, etc. Groups will be kept small so that we can critique and support each other's work. Depending on the level of interest and participation, as a group we can organize meetups on specific days which specialize in particular genres or styles. Feel free to share your ideas and suggestions on the message board. Submissio …
Do you live and Newark, like to read books, but have no one with who to discuss them? Look no further! We do not discriminate and will honor every member's request to read different genres: Fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, etc. You decide!
Meetup details are available only to members.
… The focus is fiction, but non-fiction/memoir projects and even occasional poetry are OK.

As a published writer of non-fiction (essays, op-eds, books), I know the importance of networking with other writers to ensure we carve out time to write, as well as to critique each others' work. The mission of this group is to do both, whether we write about gay issues or not. The goal is therefore to build a supportive and accepting environment to share our work, and provide constructive criticism. You need not be a published writer...just LOVE TO WRITE!

This is a group where non-fiction and business authors, experts who write, columnists and writers meet, to make new friends, exchange ideas and learn about new opportunities to further one's personal brand. Also welcome are PR and media professionals and unpublished writers/authors/experts looking for advice on establishing a name and personal brand.
This group was started to bring people ages 40+ together who share an interest in reading classic fiction and non-fiction (out loud). The group will meet in Forest Hills in a member's apartment. No purchasing of books is required, nor is reading anything in advance. Rather we will pass the book around as we read. It is not required that everyone read aloud. Reading is done on a voluntary basis. You are welcome to come and just listen! The host will provide cold (non alcoholic) beverages. Gue …
Read a good book. Meet new and interesting people who've read it too. Feed your brain...and your stomach. For a list of our past reads, please see the calendar or the photo album. Our focus is on finding worthwhile literature and still covering a variety of eras, countries and fiction (and once in a while, non fiction) genres. We try to find books that are a manageable length (200-350 pages) and that make us think. (Our members are well-educated, but note that the majority of us do not have e …

This club's goal is to have great discussions on renowned works in both fiction and non-fiction. This would include great works of literature, history, autobiographies, biographies, plays etc. Great books and great discussions are our goal; books that profoundly explore human nature. Especially for fiction it would be great to hear from people who have read the book at different phases of their lives and to hear how their opinions of the book have changed. We will have monthly meeting w …
I decided to start the group because I cannot find a book club that assigns books that are more to my liking. So I am hoping to find other girls who will enjoy the type of books I love to read. I read both fiction and non fiction, but my main interest is stories that touch upon specific things: feminism, sexuality, mental health, etc. So join my group if you are looking to stay local in Brooklyn, like to drink and like to read.
The group meets the last Wednesday of every month to discuss New Yorker essays and short stories. The PLUS is a pre-meeting, separate discussion of a book ( fiction or non-fiction ) chosen in advance by the group. A member may participate in The New Yorker meeting without joining the book discussion. All essays, short stories, and books are chosen at each meeting by the group. In some cases the group may decided to devote multiple sessions to a book.

There are tons of book clubs, but I could not find a book club around Brooklyn that explored queer literature. Womp. As a lesbian, I would like to read books with characters and stories that I can empathize with, understand or at the least simply recognize. So I thought, fudge it, I will make my own group so I can explore queer lit. with my queer family. This Book Club will cover queer fiction and non-fiction. Some books will have clear queer main characters, while other books may be more subtle …
